🥱5 ways to deal with burnout🥱

Updated: Sep 7, 2021

The average American clocks in to work at the usual morning hour and shuffles exhaustedly to her office cubicle. The company has been working on a make-or-break project and the employees have been working for long intense hours for weeks now. She sighs, pulling out the paperwork for the day. She already lost all enthusiasm for her job, she's simply going through the motions now. And she is so very tired...

The above is a description for burnout, a very common workplace phenomenon. Burnout is defined by three things. The first is exhaustion, which is accompanied by the second factor of disinterest and a lack of motivation to perform your job. Lastly, you don't feel professionally capable to handle the demands of your job.

So what do you do?

Here at Budget Pharmacy, we've put together a few tips to help you avoid burnout and keep you always feeling your best:

✅ Ensure you get proper rest. If you're in a job that demands long hours, maximize on the free time you have. This prevents exhaustion and keeps you motivated to achieve the goals you've set for yourself at work.

✅ Connect with loved ones. Bonds with family, friends and workplace colleagues will create a healthy working environment for you, which is a key ingredient for keeping burnout at bay.

✅ Exercise is also a powerful antidote to burnout. A simple walk or jog can do a lot to keep burnout at bay. Exercise boosts your energy levels and gives you the physical stamina to cope with challenges at work.

✅ If you're a highly functioning person, learn to set boundaries for yourself to avoid unintentionally exhausting yourself. Also, whenever you can, delegate duties that you can to other people.

✅ Finally, relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga go a long way in helping you to find the mental equilibrium to cope with workplace challenges. Set aside enough time for such activities to ensure you remain a productive creative individual.

With these pointers, we trust that you will learn to combat burnout and find that motivation and drive that has been eluding you.
